Monnaie de Paris is celebrating the phenomenal productivity of pictoral art in France for several centuries by unveiling a new series that pays tribute to the masterpieces of French museums.
The Venus de Milo, famous Greek sculpture discovered in 1820 in Milos, presented at the Louvre is featured on this 10€ Silver coin. Louis XVIII gifted the piece to the Louvre one year after is discovery. It is presented between several marble arches that serve as a framing device for the piece.
